Solution Overview
The system is split into two modules, the ECU and the sensor head. The E524.08/09 and the ECU communicate over a 2-wire or 3-wire interface to carry out parameter configuration, status readback, distance measurement and other commands. The ECU sends a measurement command to tell the E524.08/09 to start measuring. On receiving the command, the E524.08/09 drives the combined transmit/receive ultrasonic transducer to emit the ultrasonic burst and pick up the echo from the obstacle. The IC then amplifies the received echo and performs signal processing such as analog-to-digital conversion and digital filtering, and returns the digitized waveform to the ECU over the communication interface. The ECU analyzes the received waveform for distance calculation and obstacle detection, thereby implementing all UPAS functions.
