Based on the EFS-G2.5/G4 ultrasonic metering module we designed a complete ultrasonic gas meter solution, providing flow measurement, data storage, LCD display, prepayment management and NB wireless meter reading. The solution offers high accuracy, high reliability, low start-up flow, a wide turndown ratio, low power consumption, low pressure loss, long service life and excellent stability, and complies with the new national standard for ultrasonic gas meters, GB/T 39841-2021.
Solution Overview
The HC32L196 is used as the main MCU. The solution provides flow monitoring, data storage, LCD display, prepayment management and NB wireless meter reading, supports temperature and humidity compensation, and supports meter-displacement alarm with valve shut-off for higher security. It delivers high accuracy, low start-up flow, low power consumption and low pressure loss, and complies with the new national standard GB/T39841-2021.

Reference Design Ultrasonic Gas Meters
- Extremely low MCU standby power and an integrated LCD driver peripheral allow the relevant data to be shown on the LCD without an external driver chip; rich communication interface peripherals;
- An external EEPROM stores data, recording flow information in real time and retaining it through power loss, with 60 days of gas usage history available for query;
- A dedicated ultrasonic gas flow module handles data acquisition, offering high accuracy, high reliability and easy assembly;
- Supports temperature and humidity acquisition for compensation, plus meter-displacement alarm with prompt valve shut-off;
- Supports multiple top-up methods, including remote recharge and gas card recharge;
- Battery powered, with standby current below 14μA and average current below 80μA at a 1Hz sampling rate;
- Developed on the AMetal platform, with a rich component library for convenient development
