Smart Eye-Care Lamp Solution

Smart Eye-Care Lamp Solution

Our smart eye-care lamp solution is built on light-sensing technology and offers a scientific approach to protecting eye health and relieving visual fatigue. The solution uses an ultra-low-power spectral sensor to acquire accurate, real-time information on the quality of the current lighting, then adjusts color temperature and intensity to deliver the lighting best suited to eye health.

Smart Eye-Care Lamp Solution

Built on light-sensing technology, our smart eye-care lamp solution is a scientific approach to protecting eye health and relieving visual fatigue. It acquires real-time information on lighting quality with high precision and adjusts color temperature and intensity to deliver the lighting profile best suited to eye health at any given moment.

Solution Overview

This solution uses two LPC824 devices (M0 core) as the control units for the two sections of the system. The LPC824 on the left of the block diagram is the main controller of the entire system and performs four tasks: first, reading data from the AS7310L light-quality sensor to obtain the current lighting quality (healthy and harmful blue light information), light intensity and color temperature; second, driving the OLED display and presenting all lighting information on the OLED screen; third, receiving distance data sent from the LPC824 on the right of the block diagram over the UART port; and fourth, interpreting that distance data as gesture control operations and driving an I/O pin to switch a relay, thereby controlling the lamp. The main task of the LPC824 on the right of the block diagram is to drive the TMF8801 TOF sensor, acquire distance data and send it to the main MCU over UART.

Recommended MCU

  • LPC800 series: LPC824: a 32-bit MCU based on the Arm® Cortex®-M0+ core running at up to 30MHz; a switch matrix allows the function of every I/O pin to be configured flexibly; balanced performance and power consumption keep costs under control; the ultra-thin quad flat no-lead package reduces board space requirements
  • Ambient light sensor: AS7310L: 5-channel advanced digital ambient light sensor; dedicated channels for detecting light quality information; 1.8V supply voltage and ultra-low power consumption; ultra-thin package measuring 2.41×1.75×1.00mm
  • 1D TOF proximity sensor: TMF8801: self-calibrating; histogram-based statistical distance output; immune to strong ambient light and to surface contamination; separate near-range and far-range processing for higher accuracy

Core Components

  • MCU: LPC824 (NXP)
  • LDO: ZL6205 (ZLG Microelectronics)
  • Sensor: AS7310L (AMS)
  • Sensor: TMF8801 (AMS)
