Motorcycle PKG Solution

Motorcycle PKG Solution

Passive Keyless Go (PKG) is an excellent fit for premium motorcycle systems. On a vehicle equipped with a PKG system, the owner only needs to carry the key fob — without taking it out — to unlock the steering lock, start the vehicle and perform other operations. The system not only improves the anti-theft performance of the motorcycle but also makes it more comfortable and convenient to use, giving riders an entirely new driving experience.

Solution Overview

The PKG base station uses the NXP PCF7991 for LF transmission and IMMO. The device supports IMMO/PKG antenna multiplexing, delivering an IMMO communication range of 4~5cm and an LF range of up to 2m. HF reception uses the NXP NCK2910, which supports autonomous time-shared polling across multiple frequency points. Depending on the requirements of the design, the main MCU can be chosen from the NXP S9S08DZ, S9S12, SKEA or S32K families.

The smart key is built on the NXP NCF29A1 family, which integrates a 3D LF driver, an HF transmitter and a hardware cryptographic unit, with a built-in MRKIII-e 16bits secure core and Transponder compatibility. The external circuitry is simple and requires only a very small number of peripheral components, making it a highly integrated single-chip solution.
