As demand grows for smarter, more connected, more comfortable vehicles and for higher levels of autonomous driving, technologies such as ADAS, high-quality audio/video, OTA remote upgrades and cloud services keep advancing, and the number of automotive Ethernet nodes keeps rising — dash cameras, in-vehicle multimedia, 360-degree surround view systems, driver fatigue monitoring systems, front-view cameras and more. Third-party analysts have forecast that by 2020 the number of Ethernet ports deployed in vehicles would reach 200 million, and the data exchange between these Ethernet nodes, as well as node upgrades, must be handled by an Ethernet gateway. A suitable gateway solution with room to scale is therefore your new option.
Key Points
- Main controller rated to ASIL-B, resource-rich, gateway-dedicated part number
- Professional PMIC power supply series, with a choice of power diagnostic functions to meet functional safety requirements
- SJA1105 Ethernet switch with 5 independent ports, flexible cascading for expansion
- Ethernet PHY supporting flexible single- or dual-channel configurations
Solution Overview
The gateway processor uses the gateway-dedicated MPC5748G; the next-generation gateway processor S32G can deliver higher performance and higher port rates. Switch devices are available with AVB and TSN support, and ports can be expanded by cascading.
